Karen’s journey in maths began at Oxford, and she’s been inspiring students in Oxfordshire state schools ever since 1994. Today, she leads the maths department at The Cherwell School, bringing both experience and enthusiasm to the role.
Her involvement with the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) started around 2002, when she began setting questions for competitions like the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Maths Challenges, as well as the Mathematical Olympiad. Since 2013, she’s chaired the Senior Maths Challenge Problems Group, helping shape the questions that challenge and excite thousands of students each year.
Karen is especially passionate about making maths accessible to everyone - she’s a strong advocate for widening participation and loves helping schools use UKMT resources to engage all students.
