UK Maths Trust Celebrates 30 Years

On Saturday 27 June 2026, volunteers from across the UK came together at the Crowne Plaza London Kings Cross to celebrate 30 years of dedication to the UK Maths Trust.

The special event recognised the invaluable contribution made by the Trust’s volunteers since its foundation. Through their time, expertise and commitment, volunteers have played a vital role in inspiring young people to develop their mathematical skills and confidence over the past three decades.

The celebration began with refreshments, followed by a welcome address from Geoff Smith, Chair of Trustees. Attendees also heard from renowned statistician Sir David Spiegelhalter, who delivered the event’s guest lecture.

Following a buffet lunch, the afternoon focused on celebrating the Trust’s impact. Presentations showcased the breadth of its work, including the British Mathematical Olympiad, the UKMT Challenges and Kangaroos, the Trust’s Enrichment programme, and the Team Maths Challenge, all of which continue to engage and inspire students across the UK.

The event concluded with afternoon tea, allowing volunteers to reconnect, reflect on the Trust’s achievements, and look ahead to its future.

The celebration was a fitting tribute to the volunteers whose enthusiasm and commitment have helped shape the UK Maths Trust over the past 30 years, ensuring that generations of young people have had the opportunity to discover the enjoyment and challenge of mathematics.
