The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) takes place on 11 - 22 July 2024. It will be held in Bristol and Bath because the planned venue, Kyiv, is tragically unavailable. The UK has stepped forward so that IMO will continue as normal. Many of the key organisers are people from the UKMT community.

There are lots of roles at IMO, and we still have vacancies for about 30 Team Guides. This role involves looking after a particular team and helping them to negotiate life in the UK. A DBS check (at our expense) is essential for this role. This means that only UK residents should apply to be a Team Guide.

It is important to be energetic and to enjoy the company of young people from an international background. Each country will supply an adult in loco parentis, so you will not be legally responsible. Your role would be to advise, encourage and facilitate. Team Guides come in all shapes and sizes, but they must be at least 18 years old on 10 July 2024. They vary from young students through to mature adults.

Note that most current pupils in school year 13 (upper sixth) will satisfy the age requirement (teachers please tell your students). Many guides are university students. Single room accommodation and meals are supplied and we pay travel expenses inside the United Kingdom.

If you would like to be involved, sign up below. If you are a UKMT volunteer, please mention this in the application.
